Grenoble has a decent selection of museums and parks to relax or learn more about the area in.

Musee Dauphinois: This museum is located in the former convent of Ste-Marie-d’en-Haut which is on the side of the Bastille hill. There are permanent and temporary exhibitions about the people of Dauphine, a province steeped in French history.

Natural History Museum: The Natural History Museum has some lovely collections centred on the subjects of mineralogy and Alpine wildlife. There is also an aquarium making it a great place to take the whole family for the day.

Art Museum: The local art museum is worth seeing simply for the modern, smart building which it calls home. There is also a wonderful collection of modern art, including a Miro, a Kandinsky, an Andy Warhol, four Picassos and a couple of great Matisses.

The Parc Paul Mistral: This large park in the city centre includes a roller skating rink where people often play hockey and sprawling lawns and peaceful tree lined avenues. In the middle of the park you will see the tower Perret which was built in 1925 and looks a lot like Dr. Who’s sonic screwdriver and the Tower of Mordor when illuminated at night.
